Most teams began their seasons 2 weeks ago with a few players yet to play. This week we catch up and recap current recruits and potential targets. As always, if you know of anything we missed, let us know in the comments.
Nate Craig-Myers, a WR target, put up strong numbers in Tampa Catholic's 27-20 win over Sarasota Riverview. Craig-Myers made plays on both sides of the ball with 10 catches for 144 yards and 2 touchdown receptions. He added on 2 rushes for 44 yards, a rushing touchdown and an interception on defense.
Recent TE Commit, Naseir Upshur, and Imhotep defeated Gratz 36-6. I was unable to locate any offensive info, but Upshur had 5 second half solo tackles, including a sack in the 4th quarter.
Recent WR decommitment Keith Gavin hauled in 2 touchdown receptions in Wakulla's win over Cathedral Prep. I was unable to get any yardage info for this game.
2017 CB target, Stanford Samuels III and Flanagan defeated Coconut Creek 21-14. Samuels, who is filling in for the injured QB, rushed for 41 yards and a touchdown while passing for 37 yards. LB target, Devin Bush Jr, helped Flanagan's defense hold Coconut Creek scoreless until the final quarter when WR target, Binjimen Victor and CB target, Trayvon Mullen, both caught touchdown passes.
Joey Gatewood, a 2018 QB target, had 158 total yards with a 26 yard touchdown run in Bartram Trail's 56-24 loss to Mainland. Gatewood is splitting QB duties this year with Jordan Smith.
Sometimes overlooked LB commit, Josh Brown, was a beast on the field in Mallard Creek's last second 31-29 loss to Byrnes. Brown had 9 tackles, 3 QB pressures and caused 2 holding calls.
Last but not least, CB commit, Levonta Taylor, caught 2 touchdown passes in Ocean Lakes 55-0 victory over First Colonial. Ocean Lakes has outscored opponents 86-14 so far in the first 2 games.
Some other notes, current QB commit, Malik Henry is still awaiting paperwork for clearance to play for Long Beach Poly. Also, 2017 RB commit, Zaquandre White is suspended to start the season after a preseason fight.
