After a nice jump in the polls, Florida State commences preparation for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons today, and there’s been some slight shuffling on the ‘Nole depth chart. It’s only on the defensive side of the ball, though, as the offense remains locked in.
Specifically, two true freshman linebackers have been flipped. Dontavious Jackson, previously listed as Ro’Derrick Hoskins’ backup at the Mike LB spot, is now behind Matthew Thomas at the Will position, while Emmett Rice has gone from backing up Thomas to doing the same for Hoskins. Of course, Thomas will miss the first half of the Wake Forest game, since he was ejected in the second half of FSU’s win over Miami. Fisher confirmed that Jackson would indeed get his first career start in Thomas’ stead.
Interestingly absent from the depth chart is recently converted safety Ermon Lane, who saw some decent time against the ‘Canes. Fisher confirmed that Lane would continue to see game action moving forward. Particularly important in deciding Lane’s PT will be the health of Nate Andrews. At the time of Fisher’s presser, Andrews was being checked out, as Fisher mentioned that he’d had an MRI.
