At 5-2, Florida State is just one win away from extending its record of most consecutive bowl games made to 35 years straight. Here are the current, most likely destinations for Florida State.
Russell Athletic Bowl: ACC vs. Big 12
Orlando, Florida
December 29, 2016
The Russell Athletic Bowl is positioned as the No. 2 ACC team, not in the College Football Playoff, making the bowl. With either Clemson or Louisville on track to make the College Football Playoff, the other would be left playing in the Orange Bowl, giving Florida State a shot in the Russell Athletic Bowl. Both Mark Schlabach and Brett McMurphy of ESPN have Florida State currently in the bowl.
Tax Slayer Bowl: ACC/Big Ten vs. SEC
Jacksonville, Florida
December 31, 2016
If neither Clemson or Louisville make the College Football playoff and take the spots of the Orange and Russell Athletic Bowls, Florida State will more than likely end up in Jacksonville. There are numerous different considerations, such as the Pinstripe Bowl in New York or Belk Bowl in Charlotte, that could also be options. However, the bowl committees get to choose the participating teams. With Florida State being located close to Jacksonville, and the large number of alumni in the area, the committee will be more inclined as they can predict a high attendance from the school, as opposed to Florida State playing in another city previously mentioned.
Note: Representatives from both the Tax Slayer and Russell Athletic Bowl were present at a Florida State football game earlier this season. A normal protocol.
