Football

Unsurprisingly, Florida State was labeled as the ACC disappointment of the year so far by ESPN.

Biggest disappointment: Florida State’s defense has posted back-to-back strong performances, so that unit is certainly trending up. And it has gone through much of the season’s first half without its best player, Derwin James. That said, given all that was returning on that side of the ball, expectations were higher than ranking 57th nationally in total defense, 103rd in yards per play and 78th in scoring defense, as the preseason No. 4 team suffered two early losses and was eliminated from Playoff contention.

Jared Shanker, who also covers the ACC for ESPN, details what to take away from FSU’s season at the halfway point.

Even more from ESPN as David Hale examines how people have been comparing Clemson’s season to the one put together by the Seminoles in 2014 but the numbers don’t really back that up.

Speaking of Clemson, we now know when the Tigers will kick off with the Seminoles in two weeks.

After suffering a concussion against NC State, Clemson’s starting running back Wayne Gallman’s status is up in the air for the immediate future.

Meanwhile in the Big 12, there was much ado about nothing.

Fans may be gravely concerned but if you ask Jimbo Fisher, there’s nothing wrong with the Florida State offense.

Recruiting

How did Florida State’s current commits and targets do this past weekend? Our own TimScribble breaks it down for you.

Chris Nee of Noles247 reports that Florida State linebackers coach Bill Miller visited 2017 four-star defensive end Jarez Parks on Monday night.

Alumni

As he does every week, Andrew Miller provides a look at how the former Seminoles now playing in the NFL did in week six.

Other Sports

After last week’s Garnet and Gold games, the Florida State baseball team wrapped up its fall schedule with an exhibition against the Ontario Blue Jays on Monday.

Taking a look ahead at the next recruiting class, Zachary Lyon of Future150 previewed FSU basketball’s 2017 recruiting class.
