Football
Unsurprisingly, Florida State was labeled as the ACC disappointment of the year so far by ESPN.
Biggest disappointment: Florida State’s defense has posted back-to-back strong performances, so that unit is certainly trending up. And it has gone through much of the season’s first half without its best player, Derwin James. That said, given all that was returning on that side of the ball, expectations were higher than ranking 57th nationally in total defense, 103rd in yards per play and 78th in scoring defense, as the preseason No. 4 team suffered two early losses and was eliminated from Playoff contention.
Jared Shanker, who also covers the ACC for ESPN, details what to take away from FSU’s season at the halfway point.
Even more from ESPN as David Hale examines how people have been comparing Clemson’s season to the one put together by the Seminoles in 2014 but the numbers don’t really back that up.
Speaking of Clemson, we now know when the Tigers will kick off with the Seminoles in two weeks.
Florida State and Clemson will kickoff at 8 p.m. on ABC on Oct. 29. #Noles
