The controversial chop block penalty in FSU’s loss to Clemson led the Tallahassee Democrat sports staff to rank the five most controversial moments in Florida State history.

Speaking of the chop block penalty, FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher did not back down from his strong postgame comments but did say that he has moved on in his weekly press conference on Monday, as written by Safid Deen of the Orlando Sentinel.

Our own Bud Elliott provided some insight into why FSU came up short against Clemson thanks to some help from Football Study Hall.

There were a few minor depth chart changes ahead of the Seminoles’ game with NC State this weekend.

Pete Thamel of Sports Illustrated talked about the ACC in his list of ten questions regarding the upcoming offseason’s coaching carousel.

8) Will any ACC job open?

No job in the conference is certain to open, but there's a few worth monitoring down the stretch. Watch out for Dave Doeren at North Carolina State (4–4), where the Wolfpack have lost three straight and could easily lose the rest of the games on their schedule (Florida State, at Syracuse, Miami and at North Carolina).

Boston College's Steve Addazio picked up a critical win at NC State this weekend. The Eagles are 4–4 and need to show continued improvement down the stretch, but that victory injected hope and optimism into the program. Boston College's next two games are Louisville and at Florida State, followed by winnable games against UConn and at Wake Forest. A bowl bid would assure Addazio's return, especially with the school owing him a significant buyout as it recently signed him through 2020.

There's athletic director uncertainty at Boston College as well, as the industry perception is that Brad Bates won't return next season. (His contract expires next year.) The final decision on Addazio will come from the president's office, which adds a layer of mystery.

Here’s some perspective on exactly how good Dalvin Cook’s season has been so far.

Speaking of Cook, he was named a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award on Monday.

Recruiting

FSU was included in the latest top-five list for the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2017 recruiting class but the Seminoles have yet to crack into his crystal ball on 247Sports.

Noles247’s Josh Newberg reports that five-star defensive tackle Marvin Wilson, the No. 3 overall player in the 2017 recruiting class, had some very positive things to say after his official visit to Florida State.

Alumni

Former Florida State basketball player Aaron Thomas was taken 12th overall in the NBA D-League Draft which took place over the weekend.
