Projecting FSU's bowl destination: ‘Noles to Orlando once again?

A look at the latest bowl projections for Florida State

With one week left in the 2016 regular season, the bowl picture is becoming more clear for the 8-3 Seminoles. As last week included an Orange Bowl projection, the Louisville loss virtually eliminated the Cardinals from the College Football Playoff, meaning UL should claim take that spot, eliminating FSU from consideration. Here are the most likely FSU football bowl projections.

Russell Athletic Bowl: ACC vs. Big 12

Orlando, Florida

December 29, 2016

The Russell Athletic Bowl is positioned as the No. 2 ACC team, not in the College Football Playoff, making the bowl. With Clemson on track to make that final four and Louisville not, the Cardinals will take up the ACC’s spot in the Orange Bowl, leaving Florida State to Orlando for the second time this season — third if you count the 2016 Spring Game. SB Nation also projected FSU to the RAB facing West Virginia.

Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl: ACC/Big Ten vs. SEC

Orlando, Florida

December 31, 2016

If the team representing the ACC in the Capital One Orange Bowl is facing a team from the Big Ten conference, the ACC will get a team, more than likely Florida State, in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl. If the opponent in the Orange Bowl is not from the Big Ten, the ACC will not have a represented team in this bowl and instead be represented in the Russell Athletic Bowl. CBS Sports projects FSU to face Tennessee in the Citrus Bowl.

Hyundai Sun Bowl: ACC vs. Pac-12

El Paso, Texas

December 30, 2016

College Football News has FSU projected out west to Texas, and face off against Stanford. It would put the ‘Noles in a situation to play a conference it normally doesn’t. Miami, the 2015 ACC representative, had a final record of 8-4, where the Seminoles would finish out the season with a loss this upcoming Saturday vs. UF.
