FSU basketball lands elite big man

NCAA Basketball: NIT Season Tip-Off-Florida State vs Illinois
Go block that shot, Ikey
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

Consensus 4* Ikey Obiagu, a 7-1 Nigerian big man who plays his high school basketball in Georgia, made his college choice this afternoon, and he went with the Seminoles.

Obiagu is the No. 47 player and 4th best center in the nation according to the 247 Composite rankings.

He chose FSU over Baylor, Maryland, Auburn, and others.

Ikey Obiagu (full first name is Ikechukwu) is the ideal fit for the new system that Leonard Hamilton and staff are recruiting for. They want four versatile, interchangeable playmakers on the wing, and an athletic, defensive stopper in the middle. And Obiagu is considered by many to be the best defensive center in high school. He’s an elite shot blocker, and perfectly suited as a 2nd line defender.

He joins four players who have already signed in forwards RaiQuan Gray and Wyatt Wilkes, wing Anthony Polite, and combo guard Bryan Trimble.

Obiagu is likely the final piece of what is now a top 20 recruiting class.
