Projecting FSU's bowl destination: 'Noles headed west?

Could the ‘Noles be headed west for its bowl game?

Following the 2016 regular season, Florida State football will play in a bowl. These are the latest projections of what bowls they may play in, with a new addition this week from out west.

Russell Athletic Bowl: ACC vs. Big 12

Orlando, Florida

December 29, 2016

The Russell Athletic Bowl is positioned as the No. 2 ACC team, not in the College Football Playoff, making the bowl. Clemson is still on track to make the College Football Playoff, meaning Louisville would be left playing in the Orange Bowl, giving Florida State a shot in the Russell Athletic Bowl. Brett McMurphy of ESPN and CBS Sports project FSU to this bowl facing Oklahoma State.

Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl: ACC/Big Ten vs. SEC

Orlando, Florida

December 31, 2016

If the team representing the ACC in the Capital One Orange Bowl is facing a team from the Big Ten conference, the ACC will get a team, more than likely Florida State, in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl. If the opponent in the Orange Bowl is not from the Big Ten, the ACC will not have a represented team in this bowl. SB Nation and Mark Schlabach of ESPN have the ‘Noles facing Auburn or Tennessee.

Hyundai Sun Bowl: ACC vs. Pac-12

El Paso, Texas

December 30, 2016

College Football News has FSU projected out west to Texas, and face off against UCLA. It would put the ‘Noles in a situation to play a conference it normally doesn’t. Miami, the 2015 ACC representative, had a final record of 8-4, in the range of what Florida State’s final record will be.
