Florida State Men’s basketball wiggled its way back into the top 25 of the AP Poll after a win over former No. 21 Florida. Currently, the Seminoles stand at No. 23. The Florida Gators on the other hand, dropped completely outside the top 25 since Week 4.
Florida State was previously ranked in Week 3 before falling out that same week following a loss to Temple.
That victory over Florida marked the Seminoles’ fourth win over a period of eight days and have won its last six games. On the season, the ‘Noles are now 10-1 and are the sixth highest ranked ACC team.
In the RPI, FSU jumped from its previous spot at No. 32 to No. 24, even with games against very low RPI rated teams Nicholls State and Southern Miss. This is in part due to the high, fifth ranked RPI that Florida had, which is largely a result of playing all of its 10 games thus far on the road or at a neutral site.
Coming up this week, Florida State will stay at home and prepare for final exams before taking off for Ft. Lauderdale on Saturday to play Manhattan in the annual Orange Bowl Classic. With a victory, the ‘Noles should continue its stay inside the top 25.
