It was reported earlier in the week that Mike Bell was a finalist for the Stetson job after long time coach Pete Dunn abruptly retired. After five years as the Seminoles’ Pitching Coach he decided it was in his best interest to remain with Florida State.

More from Mike Bell: “Although I have great respect for #Stetson, at this time, it is in my best interest and my family’s to stay at #FSU."

“I want to thank everyone at Stetson and wish them luck. Most importantly, I want to thank my mentor Mike Martin for helping me throughout."

Honestly, a wise move for Mike Bell to stay put at the mid-term. Think #FSU will have a huge season, giving him more options next summer.

Florida State would have been put in a tough situation with the start of the season 8 weeks away as the team is poised to have another successful season with College World Series potential. The lineup is stacked and will undoubtedly be one of the best in the nation. The pitching situation, on the other hand, has less certainty as the bulk of the starting pitching returns now with more experience but remains unsure if that will translate into better results.
