Update
FSU is headed to the Orange Bowl against Michigan!
Previously
With the final week of the season in the books, the bowl picture has become much more clear for Florida State football. With Clemson heading to the College Football Playoffs, the next highest ranked team in the ACC will be playing in the Orange Bowl. Before this week, the ‘Noles were one spot ahead of Louisville.
Here are the latest projections:
Capital One Orange Bowl: ACC vs. Big Ten/SEC/IND
Miami, Florida
December 30, 2016
With Clemson making the College Football Playoff, the committee will have the second highest ranked ACC team taking the Tiger’s spot in the Orange Bowl. Florida State, ranked one spot ahead of Louisville, has the edge and will more than likely end up in Miami. However, as seen in years past, the polls could shake up even with both teams not playing as I explained last week.
Russell Athletic Bowl: ACC vs. Big 12
Orlando, Florida
December 29, 2016
The Russell Athletic Bowl is positioned as the No. 2 ACC team, not in the College Football Playoff, making the bowl. If Louisville does jump ahead of FSU in the College Football Playoff rankings, the ‘Noles will be at Camping World Stadium for the third time in 2016.
Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl: ACC/Big Ten vs. SEC
Orlando, Florida
December 31, 2016
If the team representing the ACC in the Capital One Orange Bowl is facing a team from the Big Ten conference, the ACC will get a team, more than likely Florida State, in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl. If the opponent in the Orange Bowl is not from the Big Ten, the ACC will not have a represented team in this bowl. The Citrus Bowl ACC representative and selection process has the same ramifications as the Russell Athletic Bowl.
