Blue Chip linebacker Dontavious Jackson commits to Florida State

FSU picked up yet another linebacker recruit for their 2016 class.

Florida State got another commitment from a highly touted prospect in four-star inside linebacker Dontavious Jackson. 24/7 sports ranked him as the 123rd best player and fifth best ILB in America. The 6'2, 239 pound senior chose the 'Noles over 56 other schools, including Alabama, Ohio State and Oklahoma, amongst others. He took an official visit to Tallahassee on October 10th of this year when FSU took on Miami. The Seminoles have been on Jackson for awhile with tight ends coach and head recruiter for Jackson Tim Brewster making a visit in early May.

The Texas native finished 2014 recording 165 tackles, improving from his 107 total in 2013. In addition, Jackson had 27 tackles for loss, six sacks, four pass break ups, four forced fumbles and an interception. His high school, Alief Elsik in Houston, TX, finished the 2015 season 7-4 after going 9-2 in the prior season.

Jackson is a much needed linebacker recruit that can find himself playing in games very early due to the thin depth currently at Florida State. He joins four-star LB Josh Brown and three-star LB Emmett Rice as other linebacker members of the 2016 FSU recruiting class which looks like it will be one of the tops in the nation yet again.
