Florida State football, recruiting news: A deeper look inside the quarterback battle

Logan Bowles-USA TODAY Sports

Football:

Brendan Sonnone of the Orlando Sentinel went into detail about how the quarterback situation may shake up before the season opener.

In case you missed it, defensive end Lorenzo Featherston has been declared medically disqualified, effectively ending his time on the field at FSU.

- In their seven round mock draft, CBS Sports has Jalen Ramsey, Roberto Aguayo, Nile Lawrence-Stample and Terrance Smith all getting drafted.

- Dan Kadar of SB Nation has FSU DB Jalen Ramsey being selected fifth overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in his latest mock draft released yesterday.

Recruiting:

- Bud Elliott had high praise for an FSU target at the Washington D.C.'s Nike Camp.

Archbishop Carroll (D.C.) 2017 prospect Deon Jones is going to be monstrous. He has good speed, turns his hips well, jumps really high in the air and has every look of the top-10 national cornerback he is. Maryland's been going after him pretty hard locally, but it wouldn't be surprising if one of the national powers that wants Jones (Clemson, Auburn, Florida State, etc.) gets him out of the area. He's so impressive.

Other Sports:

Florida State Baseball begins a two game, midweek series against in-state opponent Stetson. Keep an eye out for the preview which will be released at noon.
