Doak Campbell Stadium continues to undergo renovations, highlighted bt the construction of a new Champions Club. The $80 million renovation is expected to be completed in time for the 2016 season. Florida State plays their first game at home against Charleston Southern on September 10th.
With the capacity of the stadium dropping to roughly 78,000 from the 82,300 it currently holds, it will mark the first time since 2003 that the capacity has been altered. The last renovation to take place was the installation of the scoreboards in 2008. Both of those will also be replaced with new, state-of-the-art scoreboards. This will include the addition of the fifth largest scoreboard in all of college football.
As seen in the video, all of the bleachers are being removed to be cleaned and there are portions that have already been completed. There is still much work to do, however, Childers Construction, the managers of the project, says they plan to finish the renovations on September 2nd.
