The sides have been drawn up for the annual Florida State Garnet and Gold game this Saturday at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando. The Seminoles, which went with a draft format led by seniors for choosing teams this year, have decided upon the below lineups:
Spring Game roster
Garnet Team
The Garnet team was selected by redshirt senior quarterback Sean Maguire despite him missing spring with a fractured ankle. The team is anchored by quarterbacks Malik Henry and J.J Cosentino with Jacques Patrick and Freddie Stevenson as the notable running backs. Wideout Travis Rudolph, who has been heralded for improved leadership this offseason, leads the Garnet wide receivers highlighted by Kermit Whitfield, George Campbell, and Nyqwan Murray. On defense, Garnet is led by sophomore stud Derwin James, Nate Andrews and Tarvarus McFadden in the secondary, Josh Sweat on the defensive line, and Ro'Derrick Hoskins at linebacker.
Gold Team
The Gold team, selected by senior cornerback Marquez White who will also miss the game recovering from a broken plate in his hand, is led by senior defensive end DeMarcus Walker. Other notable Gold team members on offense include redshirt freshman quarterback Deondre Francois, running back Ryan Green, senior wideout Bobo Wilson, and talented offensive lineman Rod Johnson. Defensively, Walker is aided by Demarcus Christmas and Fred Jones at defensive tackle, Matthew Thomas at linebacker, and Marcus Lewis, Trey Marshall, and A.J. Westbrook in the secondary.
Due to a lack of specialists, the kickers and punters will play on both sides.
