More good news came for Florida State Thursday on the recruiting trail as 2018 defensive tackle Robert Cooper committed to Florida State. Cooper is 6'2 and 379 pounds, but has special feet for his massive size and coaches have been encouraged by his weight loss.

Cooper is from South Gwinnett High School outside Atlanta. He is recruited by defensive coordinator Charles Kelly and has formed a special bond with ODell Haggins.

Cooper is rated four-stars by 247sports, and he could rise in the numerical rankings as he loses weight, something he says he is committed to doing. He wants to be 340 this eason.

"I like coach Odell's coaching style. He pushes me even when I can't. He motivates me to do it and to be better," Cooper said Thursday. "He says to use my hips. My hips are powerful and he told me I have to use my hips with my punch and to be more disciplined."

Cooper cited the family feel of the program and his relationship with the staff as well. He also says he loves the campus. FSU was a childhood favorite, as was South Carolina.

"I just feel like it's the best fit for me as a student and a athlete," Cooper said. "I love everything about it, it's my home."
