The good news continued on the recruiting trail for Florida State as Justin Watkins gave his verbal commitment to the Seminoles. Watkins is one of the best athletes in the country in the class of 2018. Out of Citra (Fla.) North Marion High School, Watkins holds more than 30 scholarship offers. Watkins committed to LSU in April of 2015 but decommitted in February of 2016.
As of June 2016, Waktins is rated a four-star prospect and the No. 2 athlete in the country by 247Sports. While early ratings are quite suspect, Watkins has been on the radar for a while and regularly shows well against older players. He is capable of playing slot receiver or cornerback, and it will be interesting to see how much weight he can add to his stature, as he currently stands 5'10.5 and weighs in at 163 pounds.
Bud Elliott's take: Watkins is lightning quick with excellent change-of-direction skills. With his loose hips, he could be a natural fit at corner or receiver.
