This weekend, SB Nation National Recruiting Analyst and Tomahawk Nation's Bud Elliott was on site in Bradenton, Florida for the IMG 7v7 National Championship where he got to talk with four-star Florida State commit Cyrus Fagan. The 2017 safety from Daytona Beach (Fl.) had just finished participating in a game with fellow FSU commit Isaiah Bolden, an Adidas Pro Impact teammate of Fagan.
The 6'2 192 lb. defensive back began the interview talking about what it was like to play on a 7v7 team with so much talent, something that he will find comparable once in Tallahassee come next year. He then went on to describe the whole process of committing to Florida State, expressing his excitement and anticipation to arriving on campus. Fagan also said he was very pleased with the recent recruiting efforts made by FSU, mentioning five-star DB Stanford Samuels III and four-star DB Daniel Wright in particular. Currently, Florida State boasts the eighth best recruiting class in the nation, and first in the ACC for 2017 according to 247 class composite rankings.
When asked about his relationship with coach (Charles) Kelly, defensive coordinator for Florida State, the lifetime Seminoles fan responded in a very detailed manner, breaking down everything that coach Kelly showed Fagan on tape, and how the new 'Nole will transition right into the FSU defensive plans. Besides the tapes showed on his recruiting visits, Fagan has said he views old film of Florida State legend Deion Sanders, and has plans this summer to continue working and get bigger.
