With 67 days left until 2016 opening day for Florida State football, the No. 67 uniform is the spotlight for today.
Defensive tackle Mark Macek wore the No. 67 jersey all four of his years on campus from 1977-1980. Following his senior season, Macek was an All-American honorable mention by the AP and was a first team All-South Independent member. During that 1980 season, the Michigan native started every game for the 'Noles in a season that ended with an Orange Bowl birth.
In 1991, tackle Kevin Mancini was a United Press All-American honorable mention as well as a member of the first team All-South Independent, the last year Florida State was independent. He took the field with the No. 67 uniform from 1988-1991, all four of his years at Florida State.
The only player to ever get drafted after having No. 67 on the back of his jersey was tackle Andrew Datko. An offensive lineman who wore the number from 2008-2011, Datko was named a first team freshman All-American by the AP, Phil Steele and The Sporting News. In 2010, the 40-game starter was named recipient of the Bob Crenshaw award, handed out annually to the Seminole player with the biggest heart. Following his time at Florida State, Datko was selected in the seventh round of the 2012 draft by the Green Bay Packers.
