Florida State Seminoles in the MLB: Week 9

A look at the performances of former Florida State Seminoles currently in the MLB.

Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports

The past seven days have not been the best for some former 'Noles including Devon Travis and Buster Posey, however the role players such as Stephen Drew are taking advantage in their limited roles. Here is a full rundown on the former Seminoles in the MLB:

Buster Posey: C San Fransisco Giants

2016 stats: 52 G .257 AVG 8 HR 26 RBI .316 OBP .450 SLG

Posey started off the past seven days hitting 2-13 (.154) with a home run and two RBI before suffering a thumb injury that forced him to sit out the last two games with no known return date. His on base percentage has diminished due to his plate discipline, which is usually one of the strong points of his game, as the catcher has only walked twice in his past nine games.

Devon Travis: 2B Toronto Blue Jays

2016 stats: 12 G .174 AVG 1 HR 5 RBI .224 OBP .261 SLG

Just as Posey, Travis has mightily struggled over the past seven days, only recording one hit in his last 19 at bats, which went over the outfield fence. The Floridian is only twelve games returned from an injury that cost him the end of 2015 and most of 2016 so far, which may have not been enough time for Travis to get back into the swing of things.

Stephen Drew: IF Washington Nationals

2016 stats: 31 G .207 AVG 4 HR 8 RBI .266 OBP .431 SLG

Drew produced well in limited chances over the past seven days, recording three hits in six at bats. The utility man continues to ride the bench due to a full infield on the 'Nats, but has recently seen an upward trend in his usage.

Shane Robinson: OF Los Angeles Angels

2016 stats: 21 G .233 AVG 1 HR 4 RBI .361 OBP .333 SLG

Robinson sees most of his game appearances as a pinch runner, as the outfielder is known for his speed more than his bat, however has put together a nice week getting hits in three of seven at bats, including his first home run since 2013.

Tyler Holt: OF Cincinnati Reds

2016 stats: 42 G .294 AVG 0 HR 6 RBI .372 OBP .353 SLG

Continuing to produce off the bench, Holt went 3-6 with 2 RBI in the past seven days, getting his average closer to that .300 mark. He continues to frequent pinch hitting opportunities and is making his case for a chance to start.
