Florida State football, recruiting news: Is FSU/Clemson the greatest annual matchup in college football?

Jon Solomon of CBS Sports argues that Florida State and Clemson has become the best annual college football game.

If Clemson and Florida State, out of the same conference, finish in the top 15 in 2016 for the fifth straight year, they will have done something the Alabama-LSU series has never accomplished under Nick Saban and Les Miles. From 2010-13, Alabama and LSU each finished in the top 15, as did Stanford and Oregon out of the Pac-12.

In case you missed any of Jimbo Fisher’s busy day at ESPN on Tuesday, our own Bud Elliott recapped what he said at each of his stops on the ESPN circuit.

One of the more interesting questions asked of Fisher on Tuesday was with regard to how much he factors analytics into his gameplanning. Brendan Sonnone of Noles247 wrote an intriguing story on Fisher’s answer.

Safid Deen, Florida State beat writer for the Tallahassee Democrat, relays some of the interesting things that other ACC players and coaches said about FSU at last week’s ACC Kickoff.

Late Tuesday afternoon, news broke that Florida State was finalizing a return trip to the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in Atlanta in 2020, this time against West Virginia.

In opponent news, Ole Miss freshman defensive end Charles Wiley was arrested for a misdemeanor domestic violence charge earlier this week. With potential issues already surrounding the Ole Miss program at the current time, Wiley’s eligibility for the opener against Florida State will likely be brought into question.

Alumni

After suffering a minor meniscus tear just a matter of months ago, the Jacksonville Jaguars confirmed that former Seminole Jalen Ramsey will be a 100% participant when training camp opens on Thursday.
