There are now less than two weeks until the matchup between Florida State and Ole Miss to begin the 2016 season. Don't forget to vote for who you think is the greatest 'Nole to wear the No. 13 uniform below the post.
Marvin Minnis, more commonly known as "Snoop," wore No. 13 all five years he was in Tallahassee from 1996-2000. Following his red shirt senior year in 2000, Minnis was an NCAA Consensus All-American and received first team All-American honors from the AP, Sports Illustrated, Football News, Football Writers Association and The Sporting News, while also receiving All-ACC honors. Following his time at FSU that included a national championship, the Kansas City Chiefs selected the receiver in the third round of the 2001 NFL Draft.
QB Danny Kanell wore the No. 13 from 1993-1995, his final three years on campus, and represented the number well. In 1995, the AP and United Press International named Kanell an All-American honorable mention while Football News named him to its second team All-American team. He was also a first team All-ACC member following both 1994 and 1995 seasons. In 2012, he was elected to the Florida State football Hall of Fame and had success throughout his tenure, including leading the team to an unprecedented comeback against Florida, scoring 28 unanswered points in the fourth quarter in what is known as "The Choke at Doak." In the 1996 NFL Draft, the New York Giants selected the young quarterback from Ft. Lauderdale in the fourth round.
Another quarterback, Joe Majors, was an All-American honorable mention in 1959, his final year on campus. He had No. 13 on the back of his uniform from 1956-1959. He played a season in the AFL following his time at FSU.
Running back Dexter Carter, who wore No. 13 from 1986-1989 was an All-American honorable mention in 1989. He was a first round draft pick in the 1990 NFL Draft by the San Fransisco 49ers where Carter would begin an eight-year NFL career that included a 1995 Super Bowl championship.
In 2004, defensive back Antonio Cromartie was a College Football News first team All-American sophomore and a first team All-ACC member. Cromartie wore No. 13 from 2003-2005 before becoming a first round draft pick in the 2006 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers. He played up until last year, and although did not wear No. 13 exactly, donned the No. 31 jersey in the NFL.
Linebacker Nigel Bradham wore No. 13 from 2008-2011 before getting drafted in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft after leading the 'Noles in tackles for three straight years.
