The first two installments of ESPN’s College Gameday have covered big games that included even larger spectacles. To lead off the year, Rece Davis, Lee Corso, and Kirk Herbstreit traveled with their crew to Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin to cover the (then) upset of the Wisconsin Badgers over the LSU Tigers. On Saturday, they’ll be at the Bristol Motor Speedway to make their picks from the site of the Tennessee-Virginia Tech game.
Next weekend, things will settle down a bit. No pro stadiums or racetracks— just a pair of top-15 football teams, both of which represent the Atlantic Coast Conference.
That’s right, the College Gameday folks will head to Louisville to watch the UL Cardinals (2-0) take on the ‘Noles. Already a game that may qualify as the toughest road contest on the Seminoles’ schedule, many FSU fans were relieved to see that the contest would be played at noon, before Cards’ fans —or their team, for that matter — could get too worked up. The question now turns to if the presence of the national spotlight could serve to reinvigorate Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.
