Florida State NFL Recap: Week 3

A look at how former ‘Noles in the NFL did in Week 3 action.

Just a day after Florida State defeated USF on the same field, Jameis Winston and Roberto Aguayo were looking for a victory of their own with former ‘Nole DB Lamarcus Joyner and the Rams in the way. In the end, it was Joyner who would walk away with a victory and nine tackles to his name. QB Jameis Winston finished the day 36-58 with 405 yards, three touchdowns and an interception that wasn’t his fault in the loss, with kicker Roberto Aguayo missing his only attempt and going 2-3 on extra point attempts.

Up the road in Jacksonville, DL Timmy Jernigan had two tackles, a sack and two pass deflections in the victory for the Baltimore Ravens. DB Jalen Ramsey tipped a pass that led to an interception and had five tackles with LB Telvin Smith adding seven tackles of his own.

In Tennessee, K Sebastian Janikowski broke the NFL record for most made kicks from beyond 50 yards. That was his only field goal attempt on the day, a 52-yarder with both of his extra points converted successfully in the Oakland Raiders win.

Detroit WR Anquan Boldin hauled in four catches for 22 yards and a TD in the loss on the road in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Minnesota Vikings’ DB Xavier Rhodes had a pass deflection in the teams’ 22-10 victory at Carolina. For the Panthers, Kelvin Benjamin was held to zero catches with kicker Graham Gano going 1-2 on the day with a 48-yard FG, and 1-1 on extra point attempts.

Lawrence Timmons, linebacker, had a tackle in the Steelers’ loss at Philadelphia with LB Vince Williams also contributing four tackles in the defeat. For the 34-3 winning Eagles, LB Nigel Bradham made four tackles.

In Washington D.C., kicker Dustin Hopkins went a perfect 5-5 on field goal attempts with a long of 49 and went 2-2 on extra point attempts in the victory over the Giants. The third year veteran is now a perfect 11-11 on the season kicking fieldg oals and 5-5 on extra point attempts.
