Florida State football, recruiting news: FSU lands top bluechip recruit out of North Carolina

Hamsah Nasirildeen commits to Florida State.

Recruiting:

Florida State received a huge boost to #Tribe17 late Sunday Evening as Hamsah Nasirildeen flipped from the Gamecocks to the Seminoles. Nasirildeen is the 9th top 150 recruit to be a member of FSU’s 5th ranked recruiting class.

Cousins commits, Ja’len Parks & Corey Durden, are locked in to Florida State following their official visit this weekend. (VIP)

Long time Center commit Brady Scott enjoyed his home away from home this weekend. (VIP)

Every update you can think of from this weekend’s visit regarding FSU commits & targets.

Football:

Derwin James & Tarvarus Mcfadden headline FSU’s top returning players for 2017:

6. Tarvarus McFadden, CB, Florida State: He tied for the national lead in 2016 with eight interceptions. Odds are quarterbacks won’t give him an opportunity to match that total next season.

FSU Seniors Sean Maguire & Levonte Whitfield competed in the Collegiate Bowl & the Shrine Bowl, respectively.

Speaking of seniors Freddie Stevenson is headed to the Senior Bowl:

LSU won’t have live tigers at their games anymore, poor Mike.

FSU fans know what life is like after a generational quarterback leaves the program how will Clemson respond?

Basketball:

After averaging 1.1 points per possession in the first half vs the best defense in the country; FSU held on for a five point victory over Louisville this past Saturday.

It’s the seventeenth straight home victory for the Seminoles.

Florida State’s resume is starting to look top seed worthy:

Here's the point: FSU is positioned to win an outright league title -- not to mention earn a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. And, yes, the latter is very much on the table because Florida State will enter Wednesday's game at Georgia Tech with A) a 6-1 record against top-25 RPI teams, B) a 9-1 record against top-50 RPI teams, C) zero losses to schools ranked outside of the top 70 of the RPI, and D) zero home losses.

That's a strong resume.

Put a blue-blood's name on FSU’s current resume & you’re looking at a team that’s top 5 in the polls:

The Women’s Basketball team destroyed another ranked team this past weekend. They’ve put themselves in contention for a Number 1 seed.

Alumni:

Devonta Freeman is headed to the Superbowl; following the Falcons’ thrashing of the Packers. As a bitter Packer fan I’m hoping Devonta gets that ring.

Who’s wearing a Super Bowl ring the next time they visit Tallahassee, Devonta Freeman or Tre Jackson?
