For the second straight game, Florida State established a consistent attack on the ground but unlike against Wake, it wasn’t enough to push the Seminoles over the edge.

Jacques Patrick carried the ball 11 times for 91 carries, ripping off a 34-yarder to start off the game.

He spoke after the game about the team’s mentality moving forward

“It’s tough to swallow,” Patrick said following the game. “We had it right in our hands and to lose to your rival like that is tough to swallow, but hats off to them. They made more plays than us tonight.”

“This happened to us last year vs. North Carolina, and we rebounded well, we just got to move on. I mean last year, USC went 1-3 and then played in the Rose Bowl. The biggest thing is just staying motivated and finding a purpose. We have to find a reason to get better.”

Patrick also confirmed he wasn’t too shaken up after an apparent injury in the second quarter, saying “he’s good to go.”
