FSU basketball has one commit for the 2018 cycle, and today it became official. Devin Vassell, a 6-5 guard from Georgia, signed during a ceremony at Peachtree Ridge High School.
Vassell originally committed to FSU in May, prior to receiving any other offers from high major schools, or having evaluations from any of the scouting services.
Then he went out and had a big summer. His head coach recently said that, “I have been a head boys basketball coach for 36 years and Devin has a chance to be the best player I have ever coached. He has improved an unbelievable amount in the offseason.”
During the summer scouts lauded his understanding of the game, deep range, and great wingspan.
Physically, he’s a late bloomer, and will need to add strength. He’s currently listed at 6-5, 170, and is the No. 173 player in the nation.
The early signing period extends through Wednesday, though FSU has no other 2018 commits. The only other player currently committed is 2020 prospect Naseem Khaalid.
