Florida State men’s basketball announced Friday night that starting center Chris Koumadje will miss an “undetermined amount of time” due to a lower extremity injury. On the radio pre-game show, head coach Leonard Hamilton clarified the timetable for the injury will be 4-6 weeks.

The 7’4 junior started the first three games this season for Florida State, as he took over that role after Michael Ojo graduated. The Chad native had played well on both ends of the court. Koumadje averaged 7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.6 blocks per game.

Koumadje’s will miss his second consecutive game Friday night as FSU takes on The Citadel in Tallahassee. Freshman Ike Obiagu started in Koumadje’s place Wednesday afternoon vs. Kennesaw State. Obiagu was a highly touted prospect in Florida State’s 2017 recruiting class, ranking No. 62 overall, and the No. 5 center in the country by the 247 Sports composite rankings. Although not officially announced, he should be the starter going forward until Koumadje is able to return, although there’s a good chance the ’Noles choose to play more “small-ball.”
