The Florida State basketball team enjoyed great success two weeks ago, dusting rival Miami on the road before hammering a Clemson team firmly on the NCAA Tournament bubble. The Seminoles’ reward? A modest bump from No. 15 to No. 14 in the AP Poll. This past week, the ’Noles again smoked a conference foe, NC State, and then dropped a road game to a now-ranked Notre Dame team-- certainly not a bad loss.
But you wouldn’t know it from the latest AP Poll released on Monday, in which FSU tumbled three spots to No. 17. What’s more, the 21-5 Seminoles are now ranked behind four teams that they beat in head-to-head competition, none of which have won as many games as Florida State, but all of which have lost as many games, if not more.
Those teams are No. 8 Louisville (20-5), No. 12 Duke (20-5), No. 14 Virginia (18-6), and No. 15 Florida (20-5). The ’Noles are also ahead of all three of those ACC teams in conference play.
