Florida State fans have been awaiting Selection Sunday for quite some time now— about five years, really. But instead of sweating out a tenuous spot on the bubble, Seminole supporters knew that the ’Noles would get an NCAA Tournament nod this year. All that remained were questions about seeding, location, and, of course, opponent.
We now have answers to all of those questions, as FSU earned the 3-seed in the West region and will open play on Thursday, in Orlando, against Florida Gulf Coast University. And those in the know like their chances to suit up on Saturday as well. That’s evidenced by Las Vegas bookmakers installing the Seminoles as 12-point favorites over FGCU, according to VegasInsider.com. If the ’Noles are indeed victorious, they’ll play the winner of 6-seed Maryland and 11-seed Xavier. Vegas has the Terrapins as slight two-point favorites in that one— these lines often shift as game times approach.
