The Florida State Seminoles ended the regular season with a 25-6 mark and a #10 ranking in the AP poll. The Seminoles were rewarded for that season with a 3 seed in the Stockton region in the NCAA Tournament. The Noles will face the 14 seed Western Illinois Leathernecks (26-6) who were the champions of the Summit League. The game will be played on Friday in the TLCCC.
If FSU can get by WIU they will play the winner between the 6 seeded Missouri Tigers (21-10) and the 11 seed South Florida Bulls (24-8) in the second round which will also be played in Tallahassee.
Florida State had a strong year overall that was rewarded by the committee but the Noles did not finish well losing four of their last six games including their first game in the ACC Tournament. However, FSU also lost its first game of the ACC Tournament last year and they bounced back and played some of the best basketball they played all year to get to the Sweet 16.
The top four seeds in the Stockton region are:
1. South Carolina (27-4)
2.Oregon State (29-4)
3. Florida State (25-6)
4. Miami (FL) (23-8)
Stay tuned to TN as we will have more coverage of the NCAA Tournament in advance of FSU's game on Friday.
Update:
The NCAA has announced the times for the games in the Tallahassee Region.
Missouri will play South Florida at 5:00pm.
FSU will play Western Illinois at 7:30 or 30 minutes after the USF/ Mizzou game ends.
