Football:
Cam Akers is the highest rated offensive recruit of the Jimbo Fisher era and is already drawing rave reviews in his brief time in Tallahassee; will he be the ACC’s top freshman this upcoming season?
I posted a picture to Twitter last week of Akers in his new No. 3 jersey, and about half of the replies were to inform me I accidentally misidentified Derwin James. But the picture was of Akers, the true freshman who tips the scales at 213 pounds already. Coach Jimbo Fisher said that after three spring practices, Akers and the rest of the early enrollees look the part of elite Power 5 players -Jared Shanker
When it comes to pass protection the offensive line has to improve but so does Deondre Francois according to ESPN’s David Hale:
But the more nuanced answer is that, progress by the line needs to be matched by progress from Deondre Francois. FSU actually allowed a far lower rate of pressure in 2016 (26.7 percent) than it did in 2015 (33.3 percent), but the sack rate actually increased from 5.8 percent to 7.9 percent. That's largely on Francois, who hung onto the football way too long. He needs to be smarter in the pocket -- scramble, throw it away, check down -- more often, and that will make the line look a whole lot better.
Size isn’t everything says the fan of schools whom can’t recruit massive athletic defensive linemen; Florida State is getting bigger every year along the defensive line.
These five schools could be potential Cinderella playoff contenders; two of which were on FSU’s schedule last year.
Recruiting:
Top 100 Wide Receiver target Joshua Moore competed at the New Orleans Nike Regional and he showed up wearing FSU shorts.
FSU “commitment” Isaiah Bolden has a top two.
Four-star athlete Tre Turner will be on campus this weekend.
Rivals.com’s Mike Farrell makes the case for each school in the Taron Vincent recruitment.
Basketball:
The Women’s Basketball team did what the men couldn’t do; advanced to the Sweet 16.
Although it was a disappointing end to the season; the season on the whole shows that the program is on an upward trajectory.
Over the weekend it was reported that Leonard Hamilton received a contract extension...not quite; here’s some clarification.
FSU’s big 3 are now facing the ‘stay or go’ NBA question; If I were a betting man i’d bet on them leaving.
Other Sports:
The men’s baseball team had a rough weekend in Blacksburg which included the worst shutout loss in program history.
Meanwhile softball continues to run rule conference competition

These ladies are scary good.
Veronika Kanuchova smashed the school record in the Hammer Throw.
Women’s Golf finished third at the Clover Cup.
Alumni:
Former FSU linebacker Dekoda Watson is signing with the 49ers.
Former Seminole great Anquan Boldin isn’t retiring yet but will likely have to see what dominoes shake out in camp for him to find a NFL home for his 15th season.
Former Seminole star Myron Rolle will do his neurosurgery residency at Harvard. Myron Rolle continues to be a shining example of everything Florida State stands for.
