Not since 2012 have the Seminoles faced the Hokies but that will change next season in what could likely be the premier matchup of the weekend. Virginia Tech hosted five years ago in Blacksburg with Florida State coming out on top in a 28-22 victory.
As first reported by Warchant ($) it will be the 7th time the Seminoles have played on Labor Day since 2005. The 2018 schedule looks to be difficult as the Florida State will play their normal Atlantic Division foes which includes a trip to Louisville, NC State and Miami plus a trip to Notre Dame. Clemson and Florida are also tough home games.
Florida State is an impressive 45-11 in conference games under coach Jimbo Fisher, but is just 1-1 against the Hokies, losing in 2010, but winning in 2012. Thanks to the division schedule format of the ACC, the schools rarely play each other.
