Florida State men’s basketball lands four-star shooting guard M.J. Walker

The ‘Noles grab their second blue-chip recruit in the 2017 class.

On Wednesday, 2017 four-star shooting guard M.J. Walker from Lithia Springs (Ga.) Jonesboro announced his commitment to Florida State. Walker had a total of 11 offers with Syracuse, West Virginia, Mississippi State, Memphis, Maryland, Kansas, Auburn, GT, Ohio State, UCLA and VT the other schools besides FSU.

The 6’5 205 commit is rated the No. 26 overall player in the country according to 247 Sports Composite rankings. Walker is also the No. 4 shooting guard and No. 3 player in Georgia.

The McDonalds All-American was highly favored to head west to UCLA as 80% of the 15 predictions on 247 Sports had going to the Bruins. It is a big commitment for Florida State to say the least.

With the commitment, Florida State’s 2017 recruiting class jumped up to No. 12 in the nation from No. 25 and is now No. 4 in the ACC. Also in the class are two other shooting guards, three-stars Anthony Polite and Bryan Trimble.
