After spending the last two super regional weekends on the road and the 2014 super regional weekend already eliminated from the tournament, some fortuitous luck has allowed the Florida State baseball team to host its first Super Regional since 2013.
This super regional, which begins Saturday at 12 p.m., will be against the Sam Houston State Bearkats, the three seed in last weekend’s Lubbock Regional who knocked off the No. 5 national seed Texas Tech Red Raiders twice in as many days to reach this stage.
The Seminoles have elected to throw their ace, Tyler Holton, for the opening game of the best-of-three series while Sam Houston State will start Kyle Backhus, the team’s No. 2 starter.
