Jimbo Fisher gives “very, very, very” optimistic update on Matthew Thomas

The latest update from Jimbo Fisher.

NCAA Football: Florida State Media Day Melina Vastola-USA TODAY Sports

After practice on Thursday, Florida State football head coach Jimbo Fisher gave a very optimistic update on linebacker Matthew Thomas who has remained out with an “illness” among “other stuff.” Fisher said he expects Thomas back, “very, very, very soon.” Before you ask — yes, he actually said “very” three times.

It wasn’t all optimistic however as he also stated fellow linebacker Dontavious Jackson, who has been out with a knee injury, “Will be a little while,” when talking about a possible return date.

When asked about some of the most versatile players he’s ever coached, Fisher mentioned Derwin James as one of the players at the top of that list, also noting former FSU defensive back and current Jacksonville Jaguar Jalen Ramsey.

He also praised receivers Nyqwan Murray and George Campbell for their efforts during fall camp.
