Florida State basketball strengthens post-season chances

FSU’s argument continues to improve.

FSU basketball has won three straight ACC games and is now tied for fifth in the conference with North Carolina and NC State. Its postseason reward, per ESPN’s Bracketologist Joe Lunardi? A possible second-round matchup with Kansas, in Kansas.

The Seminoles remain an 8-seed in Lunardi’s latest projections, drawing 9-seed Providence at the West region’s Wichita venue. The winner would likely face 1-seed Kansas in a de facto home game for the Jayhawks.

Despite holding steady in Lunardi’s estimation, the Seminoles’ chances at the big dance took a nice jump according to TeamRankings.com. A week ago, that outlet gave the ’Noles a 70.8% shot at the tourney; today, that number is 83.5%, with FSU most likely to grab an 8-seed, a 21.8% chance of getting to the Sweet 16, and a 3.7% chance of making the Final Four. BracketMatrix.com reports Florida State in all 70 brackets surveyed, with an average slot as a 7-seed.
