One of the biggest needs of FSU’s 2018 recruiting class is receiver, and the Seminoles further filled that need on Wednesday, as four-star wideout Warren Thompson of Seffner (Fla.) Armwood High School signed with Florida State.
Thompson is one of the best WRs in the country, ranked 156th nationally, 28th at his position, and 27th within the state of Florida in 247’s composite rankings. A physically imposing prospect who plays big, the 6’3, 210-pound prospect is a critical get for the ’Noles.
Thompson was initially very high on FSU, and many thought he would commit to Florida State over the spring, but, while at Oregon, Willie Taggart beat out the Seminoles for his commitment. But once Taggart decided to come to FSU, the ’Noles regained the driver’s seat in Thompson’s recruitment. Leading the way has been linebackers coach Raymond Woodie, who joined the rest of the Florida State staff in going in-home with Thompson recently.
