Florida State football is BACK this week for Homecoming after last week’s bye. It was a very overcast, humid morning here in Tallahassee and the Seminoles opened their first limited portion of practice of the week as the team prepares to play Wake Forest. NFL Scouts from the Seattle Seahawks, New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots were also in attendance. Interim Director of Athletics David Coburn was at practice as well.

Offense

QB Deondre Francois appeared to be a full participant after going down for a series during the Seminoles game against Miami. Francois worked with the first-team and James Blackman worked in with the second-team.

Florida State was toying around with different offensive lineups once again today. During walk-throughs, the first-team offensive line unit appeared to consist of: LT Derrick Kelly II, LG Alec Eberle, C Baveon Johnson, RG Mike Arnold and RT Cole Minshew. Eberle and Johnson both practiced taking snaps at center. By the end of the limited viewing portion, the offensive line returned to some normalcy during individual drills with: LT Kelly, LG Minshew, C Eberle, RG Arnold, and RT Brady Scott.

OL Jauan Williams appeared to struggle during position drills this morning. The offensive line was working on a double-team where the blocker closest to the next-level defender breaks off and “climbs” to the defender. Williams made the incorrect read and stayed on the down block instead of disengaging and climbing. In result, the defensive player was left completely unblocked.

TE Tre’ McKitty was working as the first-team tight end, but Naseir Upshur took reps with the first unit as well for the first time this season. Upshur is listed fourth on the Seminole’s depth chart.

True freshman WR Keyshawn Helton received some reps with the first unit in at the slot receiver as well.

Injured/Reserved

During Monday’s press conference, Willie Taggart said he was unsure if OL Landon Dickerson will be available at all for the rest of the season. He was not observed at practice.

Defense

The defense emphasized turnovers and securing the ball this morning. The defensive backs worked on a drill where they back pedaled, made the read and caught the ball while the defensive ends worked on forcing and recovering fumbles.

DE Janarius Robinson and his family recently lost their home in Panama City due to Hurricane Michael. He was at practice today and participating in position drills.

Star Jaiden Woodbey flashed during the ’Nole Drills portion of practice and came up to make a monstrous tackle near the line of scrimmage.

DB Cyrus Fagan and LB DeCalon Brooks were both no longer sporting non-contact jerseys.

Injured/Reserved

DT Jamarcus Chatman was not observed at practice today.

Special Teams

Punter Logan Tyler appeared to still be nursing an injury that he received during the Miami game. He was participating, but appeared to be limited.

Tomorrow, the media will have the opportunity to speak with defensive coordinator Harlon Barnett and select defensive players.
