Eyes on the Enemy: Florida State football rival rundown

NCAA Football: Florida International at Miami Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

It’s Clemson week, ladies and germs! Which means it’s “deflect, deny and hope for the best” week as well, three things I especially do well.

Clemson

Watch it. Cherish it. Hold it close to you in moments of need. In fact, just watch the whole game on Saturday if you want to instead. Why not? We’re at the end of days. Do what makes you happy. That’s all I got.

Oh, and Trevor Lawrence looks like Fabio.

Clemson plays at Florida State at 12 p.m., with the game being broadcast on ABC. The spread currently sits at 17, in Clemson’s favor.

Miami

What an exciting bye week down in ol’ Coral Gables! After pulling the plug on the N’Kosi Parrey experiment (for the time being, allegedly, supposedly), the freshman went and flexed all of his cash on the InstaSnap (no judgement over here, to be honest) and got everybody in a tizzy, and then at the same time, Miami’s getting called broke by Al “If Only There Weren’t Sanctions!” Golden, according to our nation’s number one publication of record, TMZ.

As Florida State saw last season, there’s nothing like a Friday night meltdown against Boston College to serve as the perfect gummy worm on top of a poop sundae of a season. The Fighting Addazios are 5-2, with the losses being a close one to NC State and 30-13 defeat at the hand of Purdue, apparently the most terrifying team in the country. In four weeks, they suck, but for now, they’re fully capable of pulling off the upset.

Miami takes on Boston College at 7 p.m. on Friday on ESPN, with a spread of 3.5 currently in the Hurricane’s favor.

Florida

Will Florida fans become more insufferable this weekend, or will they revert back to normal levels?

Everything, outside of losing to Kentucky and an in-depth expose from the Boston Globe reminding everybody how truly grimy things were down in Gainesville 10 years ago, has been hunky dory down in Alachua County. Dan Mullen, the stepdad who would say that you don’t have to call him Dad, just Dan, because it’s one letter away from Dad anyways, has met expectations in more, with the Gators one win and a Georgia loss to Kentucky away from wrapping up a trip to be meat fodder for Alabama.

With the win over LSU paying off more and more each week, Florida stands in perfect position to capitalize on its stock the week before the initial College Football Playoff rankings, facing off against a good (question-mark?) Georgia team in DUUUUUUUUVVVVAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL. It’s the first top ten matchup in the series since 2008, and only the second since 1999, which is to say: wow, this game is really overrated, huh?

Florida and Georgia face off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday on CBS, with a spread of 6.5 currently in the Bulldogs’ favor.
