No. 15 Florida State picked up where it left off last season with a season-opening smackdown of the rival Florida Gators in Tallahassee Tuesday night. PJ Savoy led the Seminoles with 20 points in the opener, but the bigger story was the defensive effort from Coach Hamilton’s squad, which held UF to 0.83 PPP.
FSU now heads on the road to face Tulane in New Orleans. The Green Wave, coached by Mike Dunleavy, are playing their first game of the season. They fell to the Seminoles 72-53 in Tampa last season.
One thing to keep an eye on this season is the NCAA’s new NET ranking system. It’s imperative to beat teams such as Tulane by 10+ points.
The ’Noles are favored by 14.5 points in Vegas, while Ken Pom predicts an 84-70 win for FSU.
The game won’t be televised, but can be viewed on ESPN 3 or the Watch ESPN app at 7 pm.
It looks like Florida State will go with the Garnet uniforms on the road:
