Update: As expected, the Seminoles have indeed ascended from No. 11 to No. 10 in both the AP and Coaches Polls.
The Seminole cagers kept their hot start going this week, going 2-0 with a home win against the Troy Trojans and a neutral-site victory over the UConn Huskies. The ’Noles (8-1) moved up to No. 11 in both the AP and Coaches Polls last week, and now they have a very real chance of breaking the top 10 in the updated versions of those polls, which will be released later today.
Seton Hall didn’t do Florida State any favors in the offseason, winding up as the transfer destination of talented young center Ikey Obiagu— but it may have helped FSU into the top 10 on Saturday afternoon. The unranked Pirates were able to topple No. 9 Kentucky on a neutral court in overtime, hanging the second loss of the season on the blue-blood Wildcats. UK’s loss, coupled with the Seminoles’ win, could very well be enough for the ’Noles to move up.
FSU does not have a game this week, as it’s in action again next Monday night, hosting the Southeast Missouri Redhawks.
