As we expected, UNC did indeed jump the Seminoles, and Florida State has dropped a spot to No. 11 in the AP Poll. FSU drops two spots in the Coaches Poll, to No. 12, after being passed by North Carolina and undefeated Texas Tech.
This was a rather odd week in the national polls; teams across the country played a limited schedule, largely due to final exams. And following a neutral-site win over UConn, Florida State didn’t play at all, taking the entire week off ahead of tonight’s home matchup against the Southeast Missouri Redhawks.
The Seminoles (8-1) had been ranked the No. 10 team in the country by both the AP and Coaches polls. There weren’t really a bunch of surprises across the country this week, so the top 25 is unlikely to see a ton of movement. However, FSU’s position will be an interesting one to monitor. No. 12 North Carolina (8-2) beat No. 4 Gonzaga (9-2), as the Bulldogs dropped their second consecutive game. We’ll have to see how far they drop, as well as how high the Tar Heels rise. This will be a busy week for Florida State, which plays thrice.
