FSU basketball didn’t get the outcome they wanted in Wednesday’s close loss vs No. 2 Virginia. But good news on the day after always softens the blow.
This afternoon, 2019 small forward Zimife Nwokeji commited to Florida State.
Nwokeji is a local product, playing at the Maclay School. He moved to Tallahassee from Michigan.
The 247Composite has him as the No. 76 player in his class. He is FSU’s first commit for 2019. Florida State has one player signed for 2018 (Devin Vassell), and an elite point guard for 2020 (Naseem Khalid).
Nwokeji is listed at 6-7, 180. He has a great skillset to fit in with Coach Leonard Hamilton’s newish philosophy of having at least four wings/point guards on the court at all times. Nwokeji can slide out and knock down 3s. He can bring the ball up in transition. And he has the quickness to guard smaller players. He’ll need to add strength and continue to develop his offensive moves.
He chose FSU over Ohio State, Notre Dame, Butler, and several others.
Today I’m pleased to announce that I’m committed to FSU. Coach Hamilton & Coach Young are incredible men and coaches - thank you, coach Ham, for the opportunity to join nolenation and continue the champion tradition at Florida State! pic.twitter.com/8TMycOKQCu
