The latest edition of the Nolecast is here tackling all sorts of topics; recruiting, spring practice, and everyone’s favorite quarterback competition.

Music, dancing, tempo, competition. Those are the buzz words from the first practice of the Willie Taggart era and the young bucks put on a show.

Speaking of said quarterback competition it’s just getting started.

Recruiting:

5-star running back Trey Sanders was on campus yesterday as reported by Tomahawknation’s Bud Elliott:

Visit lists are always helpful but some kids that say they’ll show up don’t and some kids that say they won’t be able to make it suddenly find themselves on campus.

Four-star quarterback Taisun Phommachanh is one of the top targets on FSU’s board and he loved his Wednesday visit to Florida State. (VIP)

“I got there on Tuesday [evening] but visited the campus and such on Wednesday,” Phommachanh said. “We got there. We went to practice. Then we around the campus. They showed me all of the facilities. We had a little photo shoot. We met with the coaches. It was good.”

What was the highlight of all highlights during his visit which lasted from about 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.?

”Just being around the coaches and the players,” Phommachanh said.

Jamario Mathis, a former FSU linebacker from the 2017 who recently graduated, helped to show Phommachanh around.

”When we were at the practice yesterday, he told me he liked what the new coaches were doing,” Phommachanh said. “It was different.”

Four-star jumbo defensive end commit Quashon Fuller is about to get a big bump in the recruiting rankings. (VIP)

Quashon Fuller, DT, Lehigh Acres (Fla.) Lehigh - “Fuller was effective getting after the quarterback from the edge and on the interior of the defensive line. The now 6-foot-3.5, 277-pounder also brings a nice repertoire of different moves to get past blockers, not just a straight bull rusher. After watching him go through bag drills and one-on-ones, it’s no surprise Fuller recorded solid combine testing numbers as well. That explosiveness also shows up on his junior highlights. Despite missing time with a shoulder injury his junior season, Fuller showed a quick get off and the ability to shed blockers to make plays. Ultimately, we see an athletic, wide-body that can be a disruptive force up front.” -Barton Simmons

These 21 recruits will become household names in the recruiting landscape.
