It’s been an interesting season. FSU was a predicted bubble team in the preseason after losing two NBA draft picks, and that was with 13 scholarship players. Then, three freshmen were redshirted. PJ Savoy and Christ Koumadje combined to miss 19 games. And Trent Forrest wasn’t healthy until late in the season.
Grinding that into a tournament team would be impressive - probably more impressive than last year’s 2nd place finish in the regular season.
But at this point, that tournament selection is out of FSU’s hands.
Now that Florida State’s conference tournament play is done, it’s time to hate on the other bubble teams.
Here’s who you should be rooting for today:
Boston College vs NC State (2:30 ESPN)
The Wolfpack entered today one ahead of FSU on the bracketmatrix.com s-curve. Go BC!
Arizona State vs Colorado (3:00, Pac 12)
The Pac 12 is garbage, and ASU losing to Colorado would remind everyone of that. Buffs!
Notre Dame vs Virginia Tech (4:00, ESPN)
VT is ahead of FSU. ND is behind. Hokies!
Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State (4:00 ESPNU)
OSU could do the double-favor of knocking off a bubble team while also improving FSU’s resume. OSU in this one (then lose tomorrow before they pass FSU).
Iowa State vs Texas (6, ESPNU)
Somehow Texas hasn’t been eliminated yet. This would be a bad, bad loss for them.
Syracuse vs UNC (6, ESPN2)
Syracuse would be a lock if Boeheim had been suspended during much of ACC play. But since he coached, their losses actually count this year. Really need UNC to take care of business here.
DePaul vs Marquette (6:30, FS1)
Marquette is desperate for a win. Screw them. Blue Demons!
Out of conference foes in action: Colorado State, Southern Miss, Fordham vs GW.
