Florida State’s 2019 class is red hot with its second four-star commitment of the day as Four-star LB Jaleel Mcrae out of IMG Academy from New Smyrna Beach, Florida has committed to Florida State as first reported by Chris Nee of 247sports.
With the departures of senior linebackers Matthew Thomas, Jacob Pugh, and Ro’Derrick Hoskins linebacker is a big priority for FSU in the 2019 class. The 6’2 230lb backer is a huge commitment at a big time position of need for Florida State. He ranks 116th in the country, seventh at his position, and 15th within the state of Florida. A former commitment to Florida Mcrae chose FSU over offers from Florida, Georgia, LSU, Georgia tech and many others.
Mcrae must’ve really wanted to be a Seminole because he was offered and committed on the same day. This is his second visit to Florida State after attending the second Junior Day event on February 17th. He is teammates with recent OL commitment Dontae Lucas.
He’s a physical player that’s strong at the point of attack. He loves contact. Uses his hands well to take on and disengage from blockers. Plays all over the field on defense for his high school but probably projects as an inside backer once he arrives on campus.
Linebackers coach Raymond Woodie, Jr. was instrumental in his recruitment and took the lead in this one.
Florida State’s class now ranks third in the country via 247Sports’ composite rankings with eight commitments, with six of them being of the blue-chip variety.
