Florida State’s Derwin James did a little bit of everything as a ’Nole, playing all over the field on defense and returning kicks as well. And while we’re not quite sure where he’ll line up as a professional just yet, we do now know that he’ll be doing so in Los Angeles.
The Chargers made James their first-round pick on Thursday evening, snagging the Haines City, Fla. native with the 17th overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft. James (6’2, 215) starred for FSU in 2015 and 2017 in seasons that bookended a 2016 largely lost to a knee injury. James’ college career was characterized by his freakish athleticism, his ferocious competitiveness, and a fierce loyalty that saw him commit to the Seminoles as a freshman in high school and never waver from his pledge.
James will not be the only Florida State product in LA, as he’ll join fellow ’Nole Roberto Aguayo on the Chargers’ roster. Keep up with which other Seminoles are selected, courtesy of our tracker.
