Florida State redshirt freshman running back Khalan Laborn was carted off the field after an apparent leg injury early in the first quarter.
Laborn was returning a kickoff after a Samford touchdown and ran up the right sideline when a defender attempted a tackle and Laborn’s leg made contact.
A trainer arrived to check on Laborn and immediately signaled for a cart. An air-cast was reportedly applied by trainers or emergency personnel and Laborn was loaded on to the cart and taken off the field. It is unclear if he will be taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Laborn was impressive versus Virginia Tech last week, with one reception for 37 yards vs. the Hokies, and evoked comparisons to the jukes of Peter Warrick. FSU’s coaches were reportedly looking to get Laborn more active in the gameplan versus Samford tonight.
Florida State has good depth at running back, and will now rely on Cam Akers, Jacques Patrick, and Amir Rasul.
Update:
Laborn later tweeted this:
Thank you all for the prayers and i wishes to get better I'll be fine and best believe I'll be back stronger than ever. ⚡️
