NCAA Tournament projections across the board for FSU basketball

Varied predictions for the Seminole cagers.

NCAA Basketball: Clemson at Florida State Glenn Beil-USA TODAY Sports

It’s nearly February, which means that the intensity of conference play has increased across the college hoops landscape. Also on the rise: NCAA Tournament projections. And while Florida State is still in everyone’s bracket, their position varies quite a bit.

CBS Sports is the highest on the Seminoles, forecasting them as a 6-seed in the South region, opening play against 11-seed Alabama in Hartford, CT. Team Rankings has FSU’s most likely current spot as a 7-seed, while our own SB nation projections have the ’Noles as the top 8-seed. The latter is the same position occupied by Florida State in Bracket Matrix, an average of the Seminoles’ position across 86 brackets (FSU appears in each one).

ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has kept the ’Noles as a 9-seed after their win over Clemson, although they now have a new opponent: 8-seed TCU, in the West Region’s Columbus, OH venue. The winner of that game most likely gets 1-seed Tennessee for a trip to the Sweet 16. Lunardi’s first team out is UF.
